Botswana To Host The Common Wealth Flag For Peace

GABORONE, 13th March 2023: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform the public that as part of the commemoration of Commonwealth Day and in an effort to support and promote 2023 as the Commonwealth Year of Peace across Commonwealth Nations, the Commonwealth Flag for Peace will be raised on 13th March 2023, 1300hrs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs grounds.

A special Commonwealth Flag for Peace has been developed by the Commonwealth Secretariat with the intention to raise the Flag across all Commonwealth Member States capitals. It is hoped that the raising of the Commonwealth Flag for Peace in each Commonwealth country on Commonwealth Day will send the clearest message of a collective commitment to peace as a central tenet of the Commonwealth Charter. The flag will be hoisted for a week when the Commonwealth will be celebrating the tenth anniversary of the signing of the Charter.
