BW Jobs 4 graduates celebrates 10 year anniversary
BW Jobs 4 graduates celebrated a glittering milestone, with a gala dinner to commemorate its 10 years anniversary.
Addressing the attendants BW Jobs 4 Graduates Chairperson, Christopher Seagateng divulged that their voyage commenced ten years ago, and as young people they convened to start what today has become enormous. Seagateng highlights that their priority was looking into challenges that affect young people post tertiary. “By then we were all students, looking to graduate knowing that student allowance ultimately stops, and we need to find avenues to seek employment.”
The organization’s first establishment was a through a Facebook page, up until October 2012 when it formally registered with register of societies making it a fully functional NGO. To date the platform has over 500 000 members, BW jobs for graduates is driven by the vision “changing lives and giving hope”
The organization has over the years created numerous programmes that benefit and impact young people. Since inception in 2012 they have launched programmes such as ; enhancing the voices of unemployed adolescents, girls and women, empowering regarding sexual reproductive health rights as well as economic empowerment. Other programmes are the youth job readiness programme which looks into job needs of young people especially new entrants into the job market, in 2015 the organization launched education and career expo initiative. They are also co-founders of Botswana Youth Jobs fair which started in 2016 along with other youth serving organizations.
As part of the 10th anniversary the organization launched new programmes soon to be rolled out including, school team employment programme, core mandated to ready students and fresh graduates from tertiary for work. Lerothodi platform will be focused on sourcing crowd funding, CV guide platform, created to guide in generating an excellent CV that specifically speaks to the job.
Ending the event proceedings were testimonies from those who benefited from the organization platform. Yandile Nuku and Boitshepo Ntsoro, the two resilient ladies expressed their gratitude for crossing paths with BW Jobs 4 Graduates. The platform positively impacted their life’s, today there are employed by big companies, progressing extremely well, spearheading youth matters and pursuing side jobs.
