MCKT Donates Electronics Equipment

Ministry of Communication, Knowledge and Technology handed over donations of electronic equipment to the villages of Mochudi East at Mmmathubudukwane Kgotla on the 23rd of September 2022, this comes after the Ministry and its stakeholders commemorated World Telecommunications and Information Society day back in May 2022 at Mmathubudukwane.

The Deputy Permanent Secretary -ICT of the ministry, Mr Cecile Masiga when delivering his speech on behalf of the Minister, indicated that he’s handing over computers, tablets, printers and other gifts that are not electronic from different government organisations and non-governmental organisations. Companies that offered the donations are Botswana Telecommunication Corporation Limited, Department of Information Technology, Botswana Communications Regulatory Authority, Botswana Fibre Networks, Department of Telecommunications and Postal Services, Mascom Wireless, Botswana Railways, Botswana Police Services, Botswana Digital Innovation Hub, Huawei Technologies, Orange Botswana and Botho College.

The donations were as follows:

•Five computers to Mmathubudukwane, Mabalane, Ramonaka, Malolwane and Sikwane villages.

•Eleven out of fifteen printers to six schools and one each to Mmathubudukwane Social Welfare office, Oliphants, Ramonaka and Ramotlabaki wards.

•Eleven tablets; six to Mmathubudukwane library and five to Ramotlabaki library.

•One heavy duty printer to the clinic.

•Seven tablets and Lab chairs to Letsebe School.

•Twenty hats for the foundation classes at Ramonaka and Mabalane, twenty scribblers, ten boxes of chalk and five T-shirts for the students.

•Internet connectivity in schools, wards and clinics.

“We apologise for taking too long to bring these gifts, the advent of Covid 19 and an ongoing war in Europe causing inflation rate , made it difficult for the goods to be imported from outside this country. However, with regard to this challenge we still saw it fit to assist the constituency regardless of the situation we had at hand”, said Mr Masiga. He pleaded with the residents to take care of the equipment and use them to produce progressive results. In a response to Mr Masiga, the Chief of Mmathubudukwane, Thari Balebetse, expressed his gratitude for the gifts saying they will enhance knowledge, critical thinking and problem solving which will lead to productive and positive results in schools and working environments.
