The president to participate in the hybrid 2022 ECOSOC forum on financing for development
he Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform that His Excellency Dr. Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi, President of the Republic of Botswana, will participate virtually in the hybrid 2022 Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Forum on Financing for Development, on 25th April 2022.
The Meeting which is the Seventh Financing for Development Forum, will be held from 25th to 28th April 2022. Among others, the Forum provides a platform for discussion and follow-up on financing for development-related issues emanating from key United Nations Conferences and Summits on economic and social matters. The Seventh Forum will consider a number of issues, including sustainable investments in essential public services; international tax reform; private investment in the Sustainable Development Goals; international trade and development; the global public debt; as well as, post-COVID-19 recovery and financing for vaccines.
His Excellency the President will deliver a keynote address during the Opening Session of the Forum. The other keynote speakers will include, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, His Excellency Mr. António Guterres; and President of the General Assembly, His Excellency Mr. Abdulla Shahid. The Forum will be chaired by the President of ECOSOC and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Botswana to the United Nations, Ambassador Collen Vixen Kelapile.
