Botswana National Front Youth League (BNFYL) will not stand back while being trampled upon, the Committee has made it clear.
According to the circulating statement purported to be authored by BNFYL Secretary for Information and Publicity, BNF YL is an independent structure within the BNF and will remain as such. The Youth League refuses to be micromanaged by the BNF Central Committee (CC).
The Youth League advised the Central Committee to stand back, get their own house in order and leave the Youth League to deal with their own issues.
“The BNFYL is a democratic institution and believe that all Leadership Processes should be left to the Masses to decide on who should lead the Youth league, we further want to strongly advice the BNF CC to stop meddling in the affairs of the Youth league and focus on its factional battles which has been their duty ever since their election in Francistown Congress.” BNFYL Secretary for Information and Publicity wrote.
This follows a message which has been circulating on social media suggesting that the BNF higher body, BNF CC, has set up an Interim Youth League structure.
BNFYL has put it into perspective that their structure is still functional, and will be until the next leadership gets voted into power democratically.
Youth League which is currently reigning was voted into power in 2016, and the new leadership was supposed to be elected in May 2020. According to the statement by the Youth League, the 2020 polls were not possible due Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) surge and the State of Public Emergency (SOE).
Consequently, the Youth League says the elections are scheduled to take place on the “28th and 29th May 2022 as the date for the BNF Youth League Congress.”
