Tsogwane miss OK1

The hope for His Honor the Vice President Slumber Tsogwane to get inside the presidential jet, OK1 and travel outside the country has been shuttered. The trip which the Vice President was set to embark on is finally here and he is going nowhere. Slumber was set to go out of the country for the first time since becoming a Vice President, as events turned out, his luck has ran out.

Owing to His Excellency the President Dr. Mokgweetsi E.K Masisi being on quarantine at that time, a month back Tsogwane was supposed to lead a delegation on behalf of President Masisi. However, the summit was rescheduled to a later date as President Masisi, who is the SADC Chair for Organ on Politics, Defence and Security was held up, as well as the incoming chair, Cryril M. Ramaphosa of South Africa.

While President Masisi was in quarantine following reports that one of his stuff members testing positive for COVID-19, Ramaphosa was facing the Zondo commission in the same date of the summit.

A month later, the meeting is set to finally materialize tomorrow and President Masisi is going and taking the Dr. Lemogang Kwape- the Minister of International Affairs and Cooperation with him. “The Ministry of International Affairs and Cooperation wishes to inform that His Excellency Dr. Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi, President of the Republic of Botswana, and Chairperson of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Organ on Politics, Defence and Security will participate at the Extraordinary SADC Double Troika Summit, scheduled for 27th May 2021, in Maputo, Mozambique.” the Ministry informed.

“The Double Troika Summit will be preceded by an Extraordinary Organ Troika Summit, a Double Troika Ministerial Session and Senior Officials meeting which will be held on the same day. The Double Troika Summit will consider the report of the SADC Technical Team which was tasked to assess the threat of terrorism in Mozambique by the Extraordinary SADC Double Troika Summit of 8th April 2021.”
