Winter is already here and some of us are worried about the one thing we dread besides the cold and flu. The cold weather tends to affect the tone of our skin and no woman or even men want to have their skin looking flaky and dry.

So here are some of the ways to keep your skin looking as good as always even in the cold weather.

1. Drinking water helps with keeping your skin glowing all the time. Water is actually good for your overall health and the skin of someone who is severely dehydrated will benefit from fluids.

2. People tend to believe that hot water will warm them up, that is not the case. Take a warm bath, not hot. A hot bath can cause skin irritation if the weather is cold and it strips the natural moisture out of the skin.

3. Invest in a warm pair of gloves and boots  especially when you are spending the day or night out, they will help lock in the moisture.

4. Skin becomes more dry when it is cold because the moisture of the skin gets evaporated more quickly by the wind causing the skin to not produce as much oil. So you should make sure you apply a rich moisturizer. Preferably a body cream over body lotion.

5. Exfoliate! We often forget to help the skin slough off dead cells in the winter particularly on our hands. Moisture cannot get in if there are too many dead cells. Find an exfoliating mask and use it on your face and hands and gently on your lips then follow immediately with a moisturizer for a smoother difference.

6. Grease up your feet. Try finding lotions that contain petroleum jelly or glycerin instead. And use exfoliants to get the dead skin off periodically; that helps any moisturizers you use to sink in faster and deeper.
