Specification
MAIN PURPOSE
To deliver exceptional customer service, by driving an efficient and effective till operation process. Being able to make a quick decision that would both benefit the company and the customer. Ensuring that all policies, procedures and processes are adhered to.

KEY OUTCOMES
Demonstrates customer service (Customer)
•Greet, smile and acknowledge customers
•Display a friendly and helpful attitude when interacting with customers
•Identify customer needs in order to provide optimal service
•Deal with customer complaints, requests, and queries quickly and efficiently
•Approach all customers and offer assistance in the department.
•Manages till queues effectively in accordance with company guidelines
•Reports to their line manager any customer complaints or requests made by customers while serving them
•Demonstrates sufficient store and product knowledge to address customer’s needs

Applying selling skills (Cross Selling & Service)

•Meets customers’ needs and expectations by listening to and advising customers
•Offer alternatives to the customer if there is a product quality issue

Manages stock effectively (Availability)

•Identify and manage all shrinkage hotspots in the department
•Ensures that misplaced stock is always returned to the shop floor
•Perform and assist with stock take

Effectively process till transactions (Cross Selling & Service)

•Performs till point authorizations speedily and efficiently when required
•Assist, process and control movement of change (notes/coins) for tills
•Processes till transactions efficiently and effectively in line with till policies and procedures e.g. checks scanned price against sku ticket and or product price, packs merchandise, process payment types
•Informs customer when there is a problem regarding payment being rejected, in a polite and helpful manner
•Understand and promote the different methods of payment of transactions.

Demonstrates product knowledge and standards (Knowledge)

•Gather information about discrepancies, consult with the individual and provide feedback to the person controlling the till discrepancy (TDC) process
•Check seal control process (float bag) to and from cash office and sign off to ensure company policies and procedures are followed
•Listen and advise customers as to options, services and products available
•Introduce customer to the W reward card and clear explanation of benefits

Adheres to shop keeping disciplines (Presentation)

•Maintain hygiene and cleanliness and ensure timeous removal of all merchandise at till points according to till policy and procedures
•Ensure till operators are aware of price changes and enter the correct price
•Ensures there is sufficient supply of stationery, equipment and wrap & pack at till points
•Ensure that all collected lost property is sent to the appropriate areas

Minimizes Shrinkage (Knowledge)

•Reporting acts of dishonesty related to shrinkage and fraud to your line manager
•Ensure buddy systems is in place in your area
•Awareness & report suspicious individuals in your area to security or management
•Understand and apply password and authorization policy
•Checks and sign off lay-buy sale on collection
•Randomly check cash sales for accuracy

Plans, coordinates and follow up on activities (Leadership)

•Assist with the training of till operators and ensure the appropriate competence and conduct follow ups on performance and identify development needs.
•Identify and co-ordinate all activities in the till operations area and follow up with all staff on progress on tasks allocated to them.

Demonstrates personal leadership (Leadership)

•Demonstrates self-discipline with regards to attendance, dress code, hygiene and timekeeping
•Attends/is informed of the game plan/team meeting to know the days focus
•Maintain calm atmosphere at the till point
Requirements
•The ability and flexibility to work different shifts.
•Previous experience in the Retail or Fast Moving Consumer Goods industry, would be advantageous.
