We all love the Christmas holidays for their atmosphere of magic, happiness, and unity with our families. It’s the time of year when both kids and adults sincerely believe that dreams can come true.
During this time however, the crime rate escalates and people tend to lose their precious belongings and even their lives. Even on the road there are just too many accidents so being extra cautious is always advised.
Below are some tips to keep you safe this festive season;
Pull Off the Road if You Feel Tired
Please don’t try to drive when your eyes are shutting; you could kill yourself or others if you fall asleep. Have turns driving if there is another licensed person in the vehicle. Stop regularly to take breaks.
Keep Valuables Out Of Sight
Always travel with windows and doors locked and with valuables out of sight. If windows have to be open, ensure the opening isn’t big enough to fit a hand through.
Beware Of Suspicious Looking People
Be aware of suspicious looking people, including women, at robots and intersections. Tracker has arrested several women for hijacking in recent years, either working alone or in gangs with men.
Never Walk Alone In The Dark
You, your family or friends should never walk home alone. Remember, safety in numbers. If you have no other option, walk in well-lit areas.
Make Your Home Look Occupied
If you’re going away for Christmas, make your home look occupied, leave a light on and get a trusted neighbour to check on your property.
