SHE PRACTITIONER – TSHUKUDU METALS BOTSWANA
Job Summary
To initiate, implement, coordinate, maintain SHE management system and programmes and build a team dedicated to providing the highest standards of safety and environmental compliance at a new mine site to be developed by TMB
Key Performance Areas:
Compliance to national, international legislations and other requirements
Recommend, initiate and ensure appropriate implementation of SHE Policies and Procedures
Responsible for continuous process improvement in all SHE Programmes
Provide expert advice and periodic reporting to management on SHE related matters
SHE System Implementation and Monitoring
Responsible for the development and management of legal register
Conduct in-house audits on SHE matters
Co-ordinate SHE Training programs
Ensure appropriate safety training for all personnel at the mine site
Maintain high standards of safety and environmental compliance in a new mining and processing operation
Establish a site based mine rescue team
Establishing a first aid team at the mine site
Technical Competencies:
Safety Training Management Training e.g SAMTRAC
Setting up SHE systems and procedures
Hazard Identification and Risk Management/Assessment skills
Incident/Accident Investigation skills
Fire Prevention and Protection
Computer literacy in standard Microsoft Application Software
Instructional Techniques in Safety (IT IS)
Knowledge and understanding of OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001 & ISO 9001
ISO Auditing
First aid certificate
Substantial open pit mine safety management experience
Preferably substantial underground mine safety management experience

Requirements
Qualification and Experience:
A minimum of a Degree in Occupational Hygiene/Safety Management or equivalent qualification. Must have full knowledge of SHE integrated management system (ISO14001, OHSAS18001).
This is a senior position in a Botswana exploration and mining company and requires a minimum 10 years relevant experience: 5 years of which should have been served at senior SHE officer level in an active mining and ore processing environment. Computer literacy, a clean class B Drivers license and First Aid Certificate are mandatory. Advanced First Aid Training can be provided to the successful candidate
