The 6 God took the opportunity to announce a new album while closing out his surprise filled set at OVO Fest in Toronto on Monday (Aug. 7).
Just before dropping his mic and walking offstage, Aubrey Graham confirmed that he was going “back to making this new album in Toronto, just for you.”
The revelation comes nearly five months after the release of his More Life playlist, which went double platinum and featured hits like “Fake Love,” “Passionfruit,” “Free Smoke,” “Portland,” and “Gyalchester.”
If Drizzy is working on a full-length album, it will be his fifth overall. Just one year ago, he dropped his fourth LP, Views, which went 6x platinum with the help of smashes like “Hotline Bling,” “One Dance,” and “Controlla.”
Last month, Drake appeared to preview a new song while working out with boxer Gervonta Davis. Shortly before that, he released “Signs,” a new song that he released in connection with Louis Vuitton.
Currently, the 6 God has multiple albums on the Billboard 200, including More Life (No. 16), Views (No. 36), Take Care (No. 69), Nothing Was the Same (No. 125), and If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late (No. 130).
