The first Annual Gaborone Mayor’s Charity Mass Ride on July 7-8 marathon will be hosted by GCC in collaboration with Ablemots Consultancy.
Gaborone Mayor Kagiso Thutlwe said the mass ride was a noble idea which came after the 2014 Paris Mayor’s declaration in which mayors were supposed to be leading in issues affecting their societies.
“One of the challenges affecting our societies is an issue of HIV and as mayors we have taken the lead in seeing to it that our people are testing so that they are ready for the 90-90-90 programme,” he said.
Thutlwe said the ride would start at the Grand Palm and would have 30 minutes stop overs at old Naledi, White city, Village,Ledumang and Gaborone West where riders would interact, encourage give out food hampers to different charity organisations.
Bikers from across the nation and Gaborone city dwellers are urged to come out in large numbers to support what he termed a good cause.
