The Golden Day Has Arrived!
Today, the Republic of Botswana, a southern African state with a population of just over 2.2 million inhabitants, celebrates 50 years of Independence. Attaining 50 years by any entity is a historic milestone. That may be why it is called a Golden Jubilee. Botswana has been stable, democratic and peaceful since Independence.
Festivities have been going on since the beginning of the month, now it’s D-Day. People are celebrating all over the country and beyond with the main celebrations based at Gaborone National Stadium and Francistown Sports Complex. The capital city was turned into Hollywood glam last night when people gathered at the National Stadium for the Independence Eve.
Best wishes to all our family and friends at home and abroad on the joyous occasion of the 50th Anniversary of Botswana as a sovereign republic. We hope that we celebrate this milestone in peace and unity. May Botswana continue to progress as a proud nation united in its diversity.
