Yarona Fm Station Manager David Moepeng bid farewell to the urban youth radio station. Moepeng started at Yarona Fm in 2000 as a news reporter and moved up the ranks to become Station Manager in 2013. He has worked for the radio station for sixteen years, starting with the station in 2000 as a news reporter and before that he was a journalist for 14 years.
Moepeng obtained the Postgraduate Diploma in Media Management from Rhodes University’s Sol Plaatje Institute for Media Leadership in 2009 and another diploma, this time in economics journalism, from the Centre for Economics Journalism in Africa, also at Rhodes, in 2010. His study at Rhodes was part of the Yarona FM’s management development programme.
On his farewell message he credited the current and past Yarona FM team, and said they are a blessing from God. “Thank you for buying in to my vision as well as inspiring and encouraging me to strive for excellence in all I do,” he sad.
“Most importantly, I would like to thank my family; especially the love of my life for being the backbone of my career. This would never have been possible without my wife Naledi Maryjane Moepeng. I Love you and I will forever be grateful. God bless all you, ” Moepeng said in conclusion.
