Apply For The Fulbright Foreign Student Fellowship Program Competition

The U.S. Embassy has announced the annual competition for the Fulbright Foreign Student Fellowship Program for the 2016-17 academic year. The deadline for submission of online applications is Sunday, February 21, 2016. Deadline for submission of all supporting documents with printed online applications to the Embassy is close of business Thursday, February 27.

Purpose And Institutional Focus:

The program is designed to strengthen universities, other tertiary education institutions, and non-educational institutions (government, research, cultural, professional) through supporting the acquisition of Master’s degrees in the United States.

Fields Of Study:

Competition for the graduate student fellowship is open in the following study fields to Botswana Citizens: environmental science; information technology; mass communications, journalism, media studies, public relations; agriculture/food science; business, finance or accounting; public policy on youth development; gender studies; public health; education; and hospitality and tourism.

Financial Benefit:

Financial awards cover partial funding for a maximum of two years of study at an American university. Grants include university tuition and fees, maintenance allowance, medical and accident cover, books and supplies, and course-required field trips.

Eligibility Requirements:

Botswana citizen between the ages of 25 and 40 years; outstanding academic record; high level of English proficiency; holder of an undergraduate (Bachelor’s) degree; outstanding leadership skills; drive for civic engagement; well prepared to study for an advanced degree in his/her current field or related; affiliated with or committed to working in Botswana upon completion of studies in the U.S.; and has the endorsement of a home institution. Preference will be given to candidates who have not studied in the U.S.

Application Requirements:

A complete application packet should include: a signed application form printed from the on-line generated format, original transcripts of previous study, officially certified degree certificates, at least two academic and two professional references, and a sample essay authored by the applicant.

Mailed application packets should reach the Embassy at the following address by the stipulated deadline:
