Former boxer Lechedzani Luza, known as Master Luza, is not happy about the way things are done at Botswana Boxing Association. There seem to be drama brewing from this association, as fans and stake holders have mixed feelings about the newly elected federation. He believes that remaining silent would be doing injustice to the sport he is so passionate about and have always served diligently.
“I believe all here have the same attachment to boxing. Just a few questions to the leadership. Why is it that by now we haven’t had the OGM,which constitutionally we should have held in October/November 2015? That basically means we have not planned for 2016, a year of the Olympics? Where’s the calendar of events?”, said Luza. He continued to add that “DEBSWANA awards came and went, deserving men and women are still to receive their dues. The last time BoBA office communicated with its members, was about suspension of the competition manager Rre Tsheko and additional member Rauwe. Have they been reinstated?”
Luza is a legend as far as the boxing sport is concerned in Botswana, at the 2002 Commonwealth Games, Luza took silver medal. He took gold in 2004 at the 2nd Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Gaborone, Botswana, finally defeating Madagascar’s Georges Rakotoarimbelo. He went on to the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, but Morocco’s Hicham Mesbahi eliminated him in the first round of the men’s flyweight (– 51 kg) division.
