Botswana Premier League giants, Township Rollers Football Club, has appointed a new Head Coach a few days after sacking former Head Coach, Hassan Oktay.
Born in June 28, 1990, in Bordeaux, France, Romain Folz has a rich experience, and qualifications for the job.
His most recent job was at Mauritania Senior National Team where he served as Assistant Coach and Head of Performance Analysis.
“Romain is from France and joins Township Rollers after agreeing to leave his job with the Mauritania Senior National Team where he served as Assistant Coach and Head of Performance Analysis.
He was recently in Dubai with the team for the Arab Cup and he was due to participate with them in the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon in January 2022.
He has coached in Ghana with Ashanti Gold SC as well as Bechen United FC where he was undefeated at home.
Before then, he served as Assistant Coach at Pyramids FC (Egypt) and Chamois Niortais FC in Ligue 2 (France).
In 2019, he was Assistant Coach at the Uganda national team where he was Head of Performance Analysis.
He has also had coaching stints in the USA.” Township Rollers highlighted through a Media Release.
Folz holds: Master’s degree in Leadership from Charleston University, USA; Bachelor’s degree in Sports Coaching (Football major), Bordeaux University, France; Scouting and Video Analysis Diploma (Spain); and Physical Preparation For Youth And Adult In Football Diploma (Scotland).
He holds the highest Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) coaching license, UEFA PRO License from Spain. Moreover, Folz holds UEFA A License from France, and UEFA B License from England.
The UEFA Pro Licence is the highest coaching certification available in Europe, and generally follows the completion of the UEFA ‘B’ and ‘A’ licences. A UEFA Pro Licence is required for anyone who wishes to manage a football club in the top tier of any European nation’s league system on a permanent basis, i.e. more than 12 weeks (the amount of time an unqualified caretaker manager is allowed to take control). Such a licence is also required to manage in the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League.
