Botswana Family Welfare Association is a National non-governmental organization (NGO) and member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation. BOFWA is working to provide comprehensive sexual and reproductive health information, services and advocate for the rights of adolescents/youth, orphaned and vulnerable children (OVC) and Key Populations. They are looking to fill the following position: Counselors (2 Kanye, 1 Gaborone).
Main Purpose Of The Job:
To provide comprehensive counseling services to OVCs and their Caregivers in each district and to link them to care, in line with the goal and objectives of the project.
Responsibilities And Duties:
Mobilize OVC (communities, adolescents, youth and young mothers) to access care services
Support Community Health Providers to conduct comprehensive family care assessment among communities
Conduct home visits to provide comprehensive SRHR services
Link clients to health and socio-economic care services
Together with the project teams and other Implementing Partners working in the area, identify and map the community’s needs
Together with project teams and other Implementing Partners working in the area, facilitate community conversations
Together with the project team, other Implementing Partners and communities link OVC to care services
In coordination with the community leaders, and together with the Technical Officers, participate in engaging communities in healthy conversations.
In coordination with the project team (Social Worker), plan and document targets reached and maintain clients data and submit reports in collaboration with the project team
Participate in identification and set up of the training venues, including the logistical aspects for the same
Provide written and concise reports for all training and community outreach activities undertaken
Provide weekly monthly reports to the M&E and project officer
Requirements
BGCSE and Minimum Certificate in Counseling
Excellent communication and report writing skills
People skills/interpersonal skills
Highly professional, Self motivated and innovative
ICT skills
Timely delivery of set targets
Teamwork
Experience in community mobilization approaches
Working knowledge of the respective language of the communities
