There is a lot than meets the eye about local rapper Ozi F Teddy. He regards himself as a confident highly opinionated guy, but sometimes his mouth gets him in trouble with fellow musicians and followers. He is known for his colorful skinny jeans, chains, dope freestyles and dropping sick lines, but do people really know who Ozi F Teddy is? Follow the 10 facts about him below.
1. His real name is Ted Tshepang Phaphane, and he comes from Thamaga. Ozi is a middle child in a family of three.
2. 25 year old Ozi F Teddy is a University of Botswana Media Studies graduate, as well as a former finalist in the My African Dream talent search show.
3. He started rapping at the age of 13, rapping along to other people’s songs. He would write down their lyrics and as time went on, he educed into writing his own lines.
4. Although endorsements are hard to come by in Botswana, Ozi has been an ambassador and worked with Coca Cola, Mooka Mageu and Sprite.
5. The outspoken Ozi once rubbed fellow artists the wrong way when he once remarked that, ‘Local music is trash.’
6. He is no longer friends with fellow artist, Atlasaone ‘ATI’ Molemogi, with whom he has a hit entitled ‘On my way,’
7. The war between the two likeable rappers went public when ATI called him a thief on social media last year. A month later Ozi would respond in a song called ‘Ware o lekhete.’
8. He and Sasa Klaas were once a couple, but it ended because they were two different people who struggled to find a common ground.
9. Sasa Klaas dropped a diss song about Ozi titled 24, after she has endured years of verbal assaults from the rapper, but Ozi has vowed not to retaliate.
