He is one of the best motswako rap artists to come out of this country.  Dramaboi has an innocent and shy persona, a sort of childish enthusiasm, but when he spits his rap lines he is a bold and frank storyteller who leaves audiences in awe, here are 10 facts you might want to know about your star.

  1. His real name is Thuto Ricardo Ramphaleng.
  2. He has been nominated for an award in this year’s YAMAS in the Best Social Media category.
  3. He grew up in an unstable home without a father and had to move across seven schools in primary, hence the name Dramaboi.
  4. He was exposed to international Hip Hop music when he was a 12-year-old learner at Phillip Moshotle Primary School.
  5. While in Gaborone Senior Secondary School (GSSS) he would take to the stage and rap his lungs out.
  6. He completed his first album Godzilla, which he worked on with Jazz Beats when he was 16, although it was released two years later.
  7. The song was influenced by a movie where the animal Godzilla was the hero as it had the power to overcome all the obstacles put before it.
  8. As Ramphaleng’s music received airplay and his brand grew, he attracted the eye of Mafia Soul who signed him under their record label Rock the City.
  9. Like most local artists, Dramaboi wants to start my own record label soon. If he and his team work hard enough, they might even go international.
  10. Dramaboi and his young sister Katlego Ramphaleng have paid a moving tribute to their late grandmother Masa Martha Mokotedi with an emotional track titled Sala Nna.
