Are you still growing? This is the best time in your life to be an active person. For those who have limited experience with physical activity, remember to start slowly and build gradually over the course of weeks and months. When it comes to youth, focus on physical activity, not necessarily on organized exercise. The following are tips to get your body in shape, without going to the gym.
- Do something you enjoy. Run, jump, swim, skateboard, climb Kgale Hill. It will not feel like a burden, but rather a hobby.
- Every step counts. Try to do an hour every day of moderate to vigorous intensity activity, like brisk walking, then vigorous activities at least three days a week,e.g Karate.
- Get stronger by doing activities that build muscles and bones at least three days a week. Games like tug of war.
- Combining aerobic and strengthening activities will improve your health and well-being.
- Walk, run or bike instead of getting a ride, this will help your bones and muscles get stronger.
- Check out yoga, hip-hop,aerobics classes or Zumba dance club in your area. its better to be around people with the same goals.
- Take the dog for a walk.
- Dance to your favorite music while doing chores like cleaning or dishes.
- Rake the leaves, carry the groceries home, clean windows, to keep your body active.
