Today the nation and faith based communities gathered in different regions to honor the lives of the victims of the fatal road accident in South Africa and other citizens who lost their lives during Easter holidays.

In his condolences address His excellency Dr. Mokgweetsi Eric Masisi extended his deep gratitude to the President of the Republic of South Africa, His Excellency Cyril Matamela Ramaphosa and his government for the support and solidarity they accorded Botswana following the accident and the outstanding support to the eight year old accident survivor.

His Excellency stated that the Government of Botswana has set up a fund called Motlamedi Disaster Emergency Fund to assist the bereaved families in future mass casualty incidents.He thankfully commended Batswana for the unity, humane social and spiritual support they expressed to the bereaved families, saying this national gathering in all our districts to remember and pay tribute to the departed demonstrate our compassion as a people.

In his remarks representative of St. Engenas ZCC of South Africa, Mr Hilton Rampedi expressed how the untimely death though heartbreaking, the sole survivor gives solace hope and proof of the existence of God’s infinite power and for all not to be dismayed. “Tiyang matla Moreneng and may God strength you and give you peace as a nation, re lela Le Lena” he said.
