The Minister of Minerals and Energy, Honourable Lefoko Moagi today officiated the National Biogas programme in Mmamabifi near Mookane in the Mahalapye District.
In his address the Minister indicated that his ministry joined hands with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in November 2019 to develop a comprehensive biogas programme for Botswana to be utilized primarily for cooking, heating and lighting.
He assured that the Government of Botswana is in full support of global transition to clean energy saying the implementation of the bio gas digester programme through private sector provides an opportunity for ensuring a shared responsibility and empowerment of our locals.
The project beneficiary encouraged Batswana to engage in making bio gas for self sustainance.
