His Excellency the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Dr Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi this morning awarded medals to past and present members of the Botswana Defence Force during the 2023 Award of Medals parade at the Sir Seretse Khama Barracks.

 

President Masisi awarded the Duty Code Order (DCO) Medals, Pearl Jubilee (PJM) and Thebe ya Sechaba Medals. His Excellency was accompanied the Ministers of Defence Hon. Kagiso Mmusi; State President Hon. Kabo Morwaeng; Foreign Affairs Hon. Dr Lemogang Kwape; Minister of Youth, Gender, Sport and Culture Hon. Tumiso Rakgare and the Permanent Secretary to the President Ms Emma Peloetletse who awarded Distinguish Service Medals (DSM), Foreign Service Medals (FSM), and Long Service Medala (LSO) respectively.

 

𝐌𝐄𝐃𝐀𝐋𝐒 𝐃𝐄𝐒𝐂𝐑𝐈𝐏𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒

 

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐮𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐝𝐞 𝐎𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫 (𝐃𝐂𝐎)

 

Awarded to members of the administration and technical staff of the Botswana Defence Force for their devotion to duty.

 

𝐏𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐥 𝐉𝐮𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐚𝐥 (𝐏𝐉𝐌)

 

Awarded to any member of the Botswana Defence Force who has completed 30 years of honourable continuous service in the Botswana Defence Force.

 

𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐚𝐥 (𝐃𝐒𝐌)

 

Awarded to Commissioned Officers in the Botswana Defence Force who have completed not less than 20 years of continuous service in the Botswana Defence Force with good conduct.

 

𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐚𝐥 (𝐅𝐒𝐌)

 

Awarded to any member of the Botswana Defence Force for honourable service outside the borders of Botswana on operational deployment, related foreign assignment of collective training for a period not less than 2 months.

 

𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐚𝐥 (𝐋𝐒𝐌)

 

Awarded to any member of the other ranks within the Botswana Defence Force who had service within Botswana Defence Force, with good conduct for a period of not less than 15 years.

 

𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐛𝐞 𝐘𝐚 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐚

 

Awarded posthumously to the legal beneficiaries of deceased members of the Botswana Defence.
