Assemblies of God church was established in May 1963 with preaching points in Lobatse and Gaborone and currently has 120 branches. Over 60 years of existence is a notable milestone worthy of celebration. Unity, resilience and staying the test of time over the years have seen Assemblies of God Church not just existing but being relevant and responsive to societal needs and challenges.

Delivering his Keynote Address, the Minister for State President Hon. Kabo Neale Sechele Morwaeng stated that the celebration should be viewed as a time to reflect on the achievements and challenges the Church faced over the years as honest introspection is a vital ingredient for success.

Minister Morwaeng highlighted that the Government viewed the Assemblies of God as a strategic partner in the country’s national development. He stated that Government will always welcome and support the Church’s initiatives and aspirations as long as they align with the nation’s needs and challenges.

The Minister emphasized that Government will continue to accord churches the freedom and space to operate and thrive freely in Botswana. He also highlighted that other achievements of the church are in the area of tertiary education, as the church became the first Evangelical church to have a Bible training institute and ultimately offering BQA accredited certificate programmes all the way to master’s programmes.

The Minister commended Assemblies of God Church for their creativity and initiatives and highlighted that they can do more advising them to leverage on their international networks and stakeholders such as the Arizona Assemblies of God in the USA.
