The First Lady of the Republic of Botswana, Her Excellency Mrs. Neo Jane Masisi is among other African First Ladies Launching the Unifying Campaign, which is a year-long campaign pioneered by the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD).
OAFLAD has 29 active members (first ladies), and the First Lady of the Republic of Botswana has been an active member since 2019.
Mrs. Masisi today launched the campaign in Gaborone, Botswana. The national launch Which commenced today will last until November 2024 across the country. During the year, a roll-out of activities will be conducted in different districts.
During the national launch today, Mrs. Masisi said that the #WeAreEqual campaign will focus on each of the four campaign pillarsβhealth, gender-based violence, education, and economic empowerment. She implored the stakeholders for a call of action around each of these key issues in order to advance gender equality. She said men and women should be given equal sits urged women to support each other in order to help each other thrive.
The Unifying Campaign was officially launched on June 17, 2023, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo by the OAFLAD and its partners under the theme “#WeAreEqual”.
