Jwaneng Galaxy Fire Coach Over Poor Results
Jwaneng Galaxy have parted ways with head coach Mike ‘Dubula’ Sithole after a poor start to the season.
Dubula joined Galaxy last season and helped the team clinch the Mascom Top 8 title as well as finishing as runners-up in the BTC Premiership. Sithole’s side has been a pale shadow of the team that was so dominant last season.
However, they are second in the league, with 17 points, eight behind leaders, Township Rollers. But the team has suffered back-to-back defeats after a loss to TAFIC and Friday night’s 2-1 defeat in the Mascom Top 8 against Chiefs.
Reliable sources have told the media that Sithole and his assistant, Michael Mogaladi have been shown the door. “He was relieved of his duties over the weekend. The main reason is the poor run of results. Although the team is second on the log, it is only due to the fact the chasing teams are also having a bad season. The gap (at
the top) now is eight points and the Chiefs loss did not do him any good more especially that he kept some of the key players on the bench.
“He has also been accused of mishandling the players. Some of the players complained to the management about the coach’s behaviour. An investigation was launched. I guess the findings are some of the reasons why he was fired,” the source said.
Mmegi Sport is informed that the club is in negotiations with title winning coach, Madinda Ndlovu who left Orapa United a fortnight ago. The team is also believed to be lining up former Zambia Under-20 coach, Benston Chambesi as possible replacement. Galaxy faced Rollers last night and none of the teams scored a goal, a nil nil draw.
