For the past few days, it has been raining cats and dogs in most parts of the country. Ramotswa and the surrounding areas seem to have received more heavy rainfalls than it bargained for to such an extend that the village is flooding and causing panic to the residents and the entire nation.

Many waterways are swollen, with more rainfall expected. Some roads are submerged, halting traffic on the main road, which connects the village and the rest of the country. Scores of people, including school children, were also stranded in their flooded homes. It rained heavily late yesterday and this morning. Swelled storm water drainage system and waterways have slowed traffic across the village.

The Ramotswa border post remains closed due to the overflowing Notwane River, which is along the border line. This has also delayed work on the construction of a bridge over the river. The Notwane and Taung rivers flow into the dry Gaborone dam.
